DoubleDownDesign was born in sunny Durban, South Africa, the warmest city in South Africa. If you know nothing about Durban, let me tell you, it’s LOUD. The people are unashamedly themselves with big smiles on their faces, the places are filled with colour that fit perfectly with its never-cloudy skies, the food is spicy and the calling the culture vibrant would be underselling it.
We want DoubleDownDesign to echo all of what makes Durban great. Growing
disparaged with the rise of minimal and safe design, we want to yell from
the rooftops and paint the town with our signature pink and green.
Being an underdog, we feel like we understand them. It’s a big world out
their and getting yourself noticed is becoming an increasingly difficult
task. But what we have found is that the beauty of being an underdog is
that you have nothing to lose. Swinging for the fences is what we take
pride in, and we do it well.
Another positive about being a start-up is that we’re nomadic and hate
settling in one place. We make sure that we are always on our toes,
grabbing inspiration from the four corners of Southern Africa. This means
that our designs are diverse and we never allow anything stale to reach
the end of our production line.
